The world is full of opportunities. And if you’re in business this can be a very dangerous thing indeed.
Let me explain…
As a business owner, you need to focus. Focus on what brings in the money. And that means knowing exactly what it is you do for your customers and why they pay you.
It means sticking to your knitting and becoming the “go to organisation” for whatever it is you provide.
Opportunities that on the surface offer that wonderful magic pill.
Just get involved in this scheme which could be anything from selling the latest diet supplements to making money on the internet while you sleep and all your problems will be solved. You’ll be making heaps of money while sitting on the beach sipping Pina Coladas.
Well the reality is that there is no magic pill. And running around chasing rainbows doesn’t lead to the pot of gold.
And full disclosure here – we’ve our fair share of chasing rainbows too. Over the years we’ve “invested” in heaps of products. Done copious courses. Spent lots of time and lost focus. And have very little to show for it.
But getting back to your focus…
There’s an old saying – “You get what you focus on…”
And frankly now’s a great time to take time out to both reflect on your current reality and focus on what your 2010 will be like.
Reflect on the year and ask yourself if you’ve been focusing on the right things. Activities that have enhanced your business and life.
See what you’ve done well, what you spent your time, effort and money on and what it returned.
Now think about 2010 and decide where you’re going to put your focus and start a plan to hit the ground running.
Make a commitment to yourself, your business and your family to follow through on your plan.
Now I know that many of you will not take the time out to do all this. You’ll say to yourself, “I’m too busy. I don’t have the time. I don’t need any help. And I’m okay.”
Well, at the risk of offending some of you, that’s just a load of BS.
There’s a lot of truth to the saying, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail”.
With this in mind, Barbara and I are offering concentrated business planning and strategy half and full day sessions that will give you a head start on 2010.
In this focused session (and yes, you’ll have to do some pre-work), we’ll help you prioritise your activities and create a 120 day marketing and sales plan which will kick start your 2010 activities.
And this is not some high level stuff – we’ll work out a detailed step by step set of activities with timelines that you will be able to achieve, resulting in more of the right business.
And there’s an added benefit in doing this before Christmas and the holiday season. Get your planning for 2010 out of the way and then relax over the holidays knowing that you can hit the ground running when you get back.
This way you don’t waste precious time in the new year and get a real leap over your competition who’s likely to still be asleep.
We’ve had lots of requests and slots are filling up fast, so give me a call on (02) 9499-7958 and book yourself in.
Rashid.
